Family built and customer focused
Combining his financial background as a cost accountant with a love for woodworking, Ron Wunderlich took a leap of faith in 1977 by purchasing a sawmill operation at the age of 28. It was this pivotal decision that transformed a dedicated hobby into the foundation of a lasting cabinet manufacturer.
Building on the foundational sawmill purchase, the company expanded its capabilities by constructing dry kilns, crucial for processing and preparing lumber to specific standards. This addition allowed for the production of high-quality, dried lumber, which quickly found a market among picture frame companies.
By 1986, W. W. Wood Products, Inc. expanded its offerings, venturing into the production of cabinet doors. This expansion was made possible by our existing expertise in woodworking and lumber processing, positioning the company as a supplier to cabinet shops throughout the midwest.
Just one year after entering the market with our cabinet doors, the company took the next step in 1987 by expanding into cabinet manufacturing. It marked the beginning of Ron's original woodworking passion, transforming the operation into a full-fledged cabinet manufacturer.
By 1991, the company had grown into a significant regional employer, expanding its workforce to 120 employees to meet rising demand. This period marked an important milestone, producing 1,200 cabinets per year.
In 1997, the company broadened its market by launching Sequoia Cabinetry (now known as Aspect Cabinetry). Designed as a value-oriented alternative to the original Shiloh brand, this new series offered a streamlined selection of options to appeal to budget-conscious customers.
By 2001, the company’s continued growth propelled it into the national spotlight, ranking among the top 300 cabinet manufacturers in the United States. To support this rising status, employment reached 275 and manufacturing space was expanded to 235,000 square feet, creating the necessary infrastructure for growing production.
This major addition modernized the cabinet finishing process. The new equipment ensured a more consistent, durable, and higher-quality finish across all cabinet components. The inclusion of drying ovens significantly accelerated production cycle times, improving overall output capacity.
Dedicating a 160,000 sq. ft. facility specifically to the Cabinet Door Division allowed for the installation of highly specialized machinery and processes focused solely on cabinet door production. This massive component output boost was critical for feeding the growing demand and ensuring consistent quality of the most visible part of the cabinet.
This milestone marked a bold move into the fast growing space of frameless (full-access) cabinetry. The Eclipse line appeals to consumers seeking a sleek, modern, European aesthetic and more interior storage space.
Representing a major scale-up, this new 480,000 sq. ft. facility is dedicated to increasing production of cabinet components and parts. It established a hub full of dedicated employees operating advanced CNC and automated cutting technology. This expansion was foundational, providing the necessary volume and logistical support for the current and future growth of all product lines.
Our latest addition is the company's largest single investment, dedicated to finishing, assembly, quality control, and shipping of Eclipse cabinetry. The 700,000 sq. ft. facility is designed to handle increased cabinetry production, ensuring the company can meet projected market demand well into the future.
